About Me

My photo
Somewhere, South - Ya'll, United States
There is really nothing special about me. I'm just a husband/father who's trying to keep his marriage & kids out of danger. I think in the process of doing this, I have lost myself, a sense of who I am. That's why I'm going through this transformation. - This transformation is not just about physical health (lean body), it's also about mental & emotional health. Ya see, we live in a world that throws alot at you, and I think the 30 somethings that are in the world right now are a transition generation. We grew up in an "old school" household with our parents/grandparents, but the ways of the world and our own rebellion of these old school teachings has caused us to breed a culture of chaos. We want to be our kids friends, but we want them to respect us as parents. We want to have a 50/50 marriage, but we hold it against each other for not being the "man or woman of the house." - I am faced with the challenge of trying to cultivate a strong marriage (60% divorce rate), while raising children who would be considered "abnormal" because unlike their friends, they are still in a 2 parent household.

PM Post

As you can see, I never got around to posting my PM workout - That's because it didn't happen. I was up until 5 AM this morning with my youngest one that has crooping cough. He's a tropper - he runs around & plays as much as he can, until his body just tells him "hey, it's time to lay it down."

I'll post again after my workout:

Day 1 AM

OMG! Today I was "scheduled" to do P90X - Chest, Back, and Abs. I probably made it through 10-15 minutes of the workout before stopping! I guess that's what happens when you're over 300 lbs with asthma & you haven't worked out in forever. It's hard getting back on the horse after falling. I'll try to finish the workout before going to bed tonight (That's why this post is titled "Day 1 AM")

On the other hand nutrition wise, I took a 12 oz can of tuna, put it on a skillet, sprinkled some lemon pepper, and that was that. Then I took the cooked tuna (about 4 oz), some baby spinach, a spinach wrap & viola! That's my meal - Not real exciting, but one thing I've learned is that in order to stay on the Eat Clean Lifestyle; you need to adopt an attitude/mentality that "food is fuel." (Thanks ChickenTuna) "Fuel your body properly and step away from eating the crap."

BLOG?

Hey world! Not really sure what the heck I'm doing, but...is there really a "right" or "wrong" way to BLOG? I guess not. I think today I will make my New Year's Resolution! Get it out the way.

For me, 2008 is about change!
Looking at what I see as being "wrong" with me & taking on the action to make changes.
Sooo, here goes....
  1. BLOG for one full year while working out with the P90X videos (I have another blog on bodyspace.com - http://blog.bodybuilding.com/lastgoodfella)
  2. Don't drink a soda until 2010! I've been doing pretty good at this since 11/29/07 (The day my "Big Brother" was killed in a car wreck - I miss you Kevin)
  3. Don't get caught up in what other people say about you - Life is about successfully overcoming obstacles. Some of these obstacles are negative people - Comedian Katt Williams stated "If people are hatin' on you, then you must be doing something right. So if you have 4 haters, what else do you need to do to get 5? to get 10?"
  4. Do something "Special" - I want to stop being average, start being outstanding! I would like to have a serious six-pack, and be as lean as possible. I want to "command" the room when I walk into it! Lastly, I want to, not only participate, but perform in recreational sports locally (Flag Football, Basketball, Soccer, and Slo-Pitch Softball)
  5. Don't just get "through the storm" but learn how to "dance in the rain." We all have tough times that we go through - mine (so far) was 2007. June - Lost house & car in a local flood. (No amount of insurance can replace the memories that I have) November - I lose my nephew to a car "accident" - 2 days after I bury him, I lost my "big brother" in a car crash. It taught me that despite the storm you may be in right now, the sun will rise again. So rather than get through a storm, I'm going to dance in the dance - Make the best of a bad situation.
  6. Quit being so boring - Get out & do something! I think alot of reasons why I don't do more things is because of the way I look (weight) & no matter how fancy or well dressed I am - it's just hard to impress the harshest of critics - ME! I think this will be the easiest of my changes, once I lose the weight. Lose weight + Confidence + Self-Esteem = SWAGGER!
